    Job Description:

    The Surveillance Investigator position will involve the completion of assignments while gathering purposeful evidence/information in coordination with achieving client and Management goals, while doing so in compliance with the company’s systems, policies and procedures.

    We are currently seeking candidates for our Markham Office located at 175 Commerce Valley Dr West, Markham ON L3T 7P6.

    Competencies required to succeed
    Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to write detailed, comprehensive reports.
    An analytical thinker with advanced problem solving skills. Ability to approach a problem from different perspectives and explore all angles, using an investigative mindset.
    Comfortable with the use of a computer, standard programs, and use of online data resources, etc.
    Must be discreet and comfortable handling sensitive information.
    Extremely organized, concise, and strong attention to detail.
    Must work well independently with minimal supervision.
    Use of a reliable motor vehicle that is suitable for surveillance.

    Education, knowledge and experience required
    Experience:
    Two years of experience conducting mobile and foot surveillance for insurance claims and corporate investigations is an asset.

    Education:
    Completion of Investigator training/course, diploma/degree in criminology; background in legal, and/or psychology an asset.
    Possession of a valid Ontario Investigator license.

    Environment/Work Conditions
    While the incumbent must be team-oriented, it is imperative that he/she be self-sufficient and dedicated as the role of an investigator calls for much independence in the field.
    Flexibility to work irregular hours and days – evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required

    JOB DESCRIPTION CANADIAN CORPS OF COMMISSIONAIRES (KINGSTON & REGION DIVISION)
    POSITION: Investigator Pool (Independent Contractor)
    RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Investigator
    JOB SUMMARY: Operating throughout Eastern Ontario, Investigators conduct a broad spectrum of activities in order to deliver timely, relevant products to clients. We are seeking to expand our pool of qualified Investigators that can quickly respond to callouts by the Chief Investigator and conduct the following types of investigations: insurance Investigations (fraud/theft/arson/accident benefit/liability), subrogation, surety and fidelity claims, fibre break investigations, fire scene security, litigation support, open source and social media queries, surveillance, threat-risk assessments and client-driven special project support. The Investigator also assists in marketing investigative services in order to enhance and create business opportunities with current and targeted consumers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Conduct fieldwork, interviews and record searches to obtain all pertinent facts in order to write clear, concise investigation reports. 2. Provide client update briefings at Chief Investigator’s and/or client’s request 3. Liaise with police, security and other agencies, as required, in the performance of duties. 4. Understand and comply with current PSIS Act of Ontario and other relevant Acts and Statutes 5. Understand and comply with regulations for safeguarding sensitive documents 6. Undergo Company-specific investigation and case administration training 7. Deliver investigation and crime awareness training to clients when tasked

    EDUCATION

    • Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Strong English language writing and speaking skills

    PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES

    • Holds a valid provincial Private Investigator Security License • Possesses a reliable vehicle currently licensed for business/commercial purposes • Clean driving record

    Seeking an Independent Investigator with a valid Ontario Private Investigation agency licence. (Note: Candidate must be in possession of a private investigation licence at the time of application).

    Duties for this position include conducting mobile surveillance, using a video camera to document claimant activity, writing and typing investigation reports. Candidates must be flexible and able to work evenings and weekends when required. Candidates must have a good driving record, as well as a newer model, reliable, non-descript vehicle which is neutral in colour and appearance. Candidates must have an excellent command of the English language and basic computer knowledge to assist in report writing and typing.
